Earlier this month, we published a post on saving money on your shipping. Today we’re going to take it one step further and discuss how you can ship your high value items stress free.
What does shipping high value items involve? Want to ship
your latest Chritie’s acquisition without constantly being
on pins and needles?
By providing a range of services, we at Mars Freights make sure that your high value items reach their final destination. Making a stressful situation simple and easy.
We lend a hand with customs clearance, insurance and sale of packaging materials. We’ll also add in a police escort if needed!
Here are the steps you need to follow to make shipping your high value items less nerve wrecking:
Step 1:
Self Packaging and Goods description
Make sure that you are specific about the contents of your
shipment; note down all the details of your item, these
include:
– Weight
– No. of Items
– Estimated Value
– Country of origin
Make sure that you take photographic evidence of your items before you finalise packing. Your freight forwarding representative will do the same.
Your next step will be to package your goods. To assist our customers in the transportation of high value items, we offer a wide range of packing materials such as:
– cartons in various sizes
– corrugated rolls
– Air bubbles
– Plywood boxes
– Masking tape, plastic and steel wraps.
We can also offer help with your commercial packaging if needed.
Make sure you double-box your high value items such as jewellery, paintings, collectibles etc. For extra protection, reinforce your shipments by placing valuables inside a bubble wrapped box and then a sturdy outer box. Make sure that no indication of the nature of your items or their value appears on the outer packaging.
Step 2:
Pick Up and Collection
Once you are ready to ship your packed items, Mars Freights as your shipper of choice, will carry out a secure collection process for your items. We will send a representative to your location, with all the documentation and seal required to safely pick up your items.
At this point, we will provide you with all the documentation for your records and a tracking number which allows you to easily track your shipment online.
Step 3:
Insurance and Custom Clearance
It is important that you insure your items and make the most of the insurance covers available. We insure all shipments according to their total value estimated by you. Although it’s highly unlikely that any damages occur, it’s nice to be able to sleep at night knowing that your exquisite diamond necklace is insured.
We also provide on-site experts dedicated to customs clearance, taking care of the documentation and legal formalities on your behalf.
Step 4:
Delivery
Whether your items are shipped, flown in, or transported locally by land, know that your next step is clearing and final delivery. There are several options available to ensure that your items reach their destination safely.
Your assigned consignee will meet our representatives, inspect the items as desired. We will also provide you with quality and cross checks if needed. What about heightened security? Once goods are at the destination port, we can arrange for police escort, bullet proof transportation and even armoured transportation.
